One of the best parts of being a senior photographer is getting to create something unique for each person I work with. Senior photos should be more than just good lighting and nice backgrounds—they should tell a story. When I photographed Garret’s session, he had an idea that made it a one of a kind senior session.

We started out on the football field, where so many of his high school memories were made. Capturing images in a place that holds significance always adds meaning to a session. From there, we headed around the lake, taking in the beautiful scenery that made for some incredible shots. Clear Lake, SD, offers such a great mix of natural backdrops and personal connections, making it an ideal spot for senior portraits.

And then, we wrapped up with a grand finale—Garret in his cap and gown on a jet ski. Talk about an epic way to celebrate the end of high school! This session wasn’t just about capturing what Garret looks like in his senior year, but who he is.

One of the coolest parts? I’ve had the honor of photographing all of Garret’s siblings as well. Seeing families return year after year for senior sessions is something I don’t take for granted. It’s amazing to capture these milestones and create memories that last a lifetime.
